When I worked for USPS at Batesville PO, those people loved me so much that for ten
years I counted every dollar that came through there and deposited it in bank, yes I found
yhree old 2.00 bills, an occasional 1.00 silver cert. My two greatest finds were a 1928
20.00 bill and a 195(?) red seal 100.00 US Note in near UNC cond. I never had that much
money ever in my pocket to bring that 100.00 home, this was 1987 through 1997. I did
bring home all the 2.00 bills I saw in ten years, I have 78 of the newer models. I found
blue seal 5.00 note also.

its funny how things pass through others hands for so long
my sister helps me because of her register job i have scored many things and that makes me happy oddly she gets lots of change and the surprising bulk of which is pennies many in months and only one wheatie they seem to be well hoarded and very few out even roll searching has been low as one recently and as high as a rolls worth another time i suspect sometimes collections or hoards get broken up either due to the economic crunch or kids wanting candy to people not knowing grandads collection has valueComment

I used to see the 1976 Bicentennial twos ALL the time in GERMANY while in the service. The PXs (Post Exchange) stores and commissaries used to give them back to you in change to save on the amount of one dollar bills they carried. At the time (1987-1990), the two dollar bills were extremely unpopular in the States so they were used at overseas military installations to get them out of circulation.
Incidentally, when I was closing my bank account on post getting ready to come back stateside, I got a couple of 1967, 1968 half dollars back. I asked the teller if she had any more and she said yes so I bought all she had...$50 worth!! Had a few 1964s in there too!BriComment
