No offence Lucien, but that's a retail pricelist, not a guide to market value.
Your best guide for current roll values is going to be found at www.graysheet.com This is dealer wholesale prices (roughly what you can expect to sell rolls for to a dealer who has a market for them) but it's a good guide that'll give you a sense of what's reasonable and what's absurd. You'll have to purchase a copy of the correct sheet containing BU roll prices, but it's only $3-4, and you know what is said about free advice/information- it's worth what you pay for it.

Totally agree with you Thad, but when you find a dealer willing to accept 10% over GS bid prices for OBWs, it's an amazing goldmine, and I'm not a treasure hunter as a profession, I'm a goldmine locator!

The CDN prices are NOT for OBW rolls (as I'm sure you know)....but the other members should realize this. OBW rolls can command huge premiums over CDN roll prices. I wish I could buy OBW's for 10% over GS. LOL That would indeed be a gold mine!
You can Thad- it just takes a lot of footwork and perseverance, building relationships of trust with local dealers and your favorites at bigger shows. Once a dealer knows they have a constant, permanent buyer for a specific item, they'll often hold on to it for you. In general, dealers hate rolls, they're heavy and bulky and the profit margin isn't huge. But if they are able to buy them at nearly face value when they come through the shop door and double their money, they're eager to do just that.
One of my biggest scores came from the PNNA show in Seattle this last April. I have several good contacts and one of my favorite dealers from Boise brought me over 600 OBW rolls. At just over CDN bid price, the lot cost me about $425. Yeah- over 100 OBW rolls of -64-P for 75 cents each, all that work paid off, but killed my gas mileage on the way home, lol.

Ok, finding a great deal of help on site. Thad, you purchased from a good contact rolls of 64 P for around .75 cents a role. So this guy is buying from whoever at a price that would warrant him selling to you at your number. I am guessing he is looking at making anywhere from hopefully .05 to .20 a role, correct selling to you? I also read that buyers should be careful buying OBW rolls because in some cases they could have been opened and re-wrapped. Do banks or where ever they are buying from actually have these 40 and 50 year old rolls around to be able to offer them? Are they finding them from people who bought them at face value way back when and now willing to sell them for minimal profit?
Sorry if questions are foolish but just trying to figure it all out. I guess the way I am looking at it is I would have a hard time selling 1964 P rolls to anyone without looking them over for any hidden gems. So my guess is when selling in bulk like this, your guy having so much going on does not have the time to search through every role so looks at it as able to sell in bulk and make a quick profit. right?
