I think my wife is getting hooked

Coin collecting has always been something I did in my spare time. It was MY hobby. Over the years I've been able to get the kids to help me sort thru rolls and we would all talk and laugh at the kitchen table, and get excited with every wheat or IH someone would find. But recently, over this past year, my wife has joined in to help me search thru rolls. I basically gave her a cheat sheet, a lamp and a couple of loupes. We talk and I look at everything she thinks is "something" with 99% of is being a hit or DDD. However, this time shared together has turned into a hobby shared together and instead of once a month searching together, we look at a few rolls everynight, whenever possible. We got home late last night and she asked if we had any rolls to look thru and said no. Well, she made me go out and find some... She said she would go thru withdrawals if she didn't have a roll to search thru. She's addicted and I'm the junkie who got her started. I found 2 rolls at krogers at 9pm last night and she pulled a really nice 2000 WAM out of it. She finished, smiled and went to bed. Over the last couple of months of her joining me in the hunt she has found 4 2011 DDO-004's, 2 WAMs, a 1988 RDV-006, and her very own new discovery, the 1972D-1DO-005. I told her she should join the forum herself and jump in with her own finds, experiences, questions etc. So, the way i see it is that I'm winning all around in everyway. I get to be with the love of my life, I get to search for varieties at the same time AND she's finding good stuff adding to (it's now turned into OUR collection).
Picked up some rolls this morning and tonight.....a cozy evening, just her and I.....under the lamp and scope, with our rolls.....how romantic.

Nice to have this happening Rock. Great story!
Now my wife want to take all that I find and sell them. So she certainly will never be a collector. LOL Because of this I don't even tell her sometimes the things I find. I now am hoping Grandchildren will find interest. Do you guys separate you finds are combine them?

That really is an awesome story! Good for you both to grow together and learn to enjoy the hunt!

My girlfriend will never quite understand my obsession, but she tolerates it well, which is all that I can ask

Very cool....my wife has no interest in searching or my collection. She'll listen when I explain something to her....but there's no interest. LOL

How fortunate you are Rock; if only my wife would get interested in roll searching. Instead of turn the light out and go to bed.

That's a wine and candle light story Rock but you better not come home empty handed again!
My spouse could care less but he would go and get a brick for me because when I search...I'm quiet.

I have no such luck,my wife says she is not interested in coins unless they are as shine as a gem are . She thinks the circulated ones are too dirty and my coins have too much MD. (She was disappointed a lot)'

We combine them, but I put her initials on the labels of those she finds so she can see her progress. This helps keep her interest going too. Also, we both realize that these finds may be our food money in retirement since we don't have a 401K or savings or pension and don't think SS benefits will cut the mustard....and my wife likes to eat, so this is a motivator too.

Neat hasfam! That's awesome! No one here at home getting hooked yet, but my Dave has taken to stop at the bank for me from time to time to pick up some rolls, so that's a start.

That might make for a good topic of discussion. pending its not house money your spending on coins. But anyone ever hear from a coin collecting spouse . If you sell some coins we can get xxxx ( something she wants )?
