I just noticed a surge in the price of 1995D cent Rolls. How did these rolls get so high.....or are the sellers asking too much. I just bought some a few months ago for just a little over $5.00. Here's a link for you and do you have any rolls. It's time to cash in.
Supply and demand I guess. or maybe they are just testing the waters. Prices are always going up and down, but this is the time of year for everything to go up. People are starting to shop for christmas now and some might think 3 OBW rolls of 1995D's would be a nice present for dad, hubby or grandpa. Who knows.

I wouldn't get excited over what an eBay seller is asking.....he is also pointing out the doubled dies that can be found for that year which is a trick many sellers use trying to get maximum profit out of common coins. I do keep an eye out on completed listings to get a general idea of pricing trends.
You may be right Rock,I'll take a look at RS Coins and see how their rolls compare. Some good sellers are still out there but you got to search diligently. 1995D has 3 DDO dies and 5 DDRs to boot so I guess I should not be questioning the current price. Look at the price that this DDO fetched : One can only imagine what a gem coin would realize.
I'm sure the price is a little jacked up but fair for an OBW roll with known varieties. OBW rolls are by far the best for searching varieties IMO. You're pretty much guaranteed an a nice, red MS grade variety if you find one.
Did it actually sell? I just see that the listing ended. It is a coin that has been listed continuously over the last several months. I really like the 95-d doubled die, but for that price it should be in PCGS plastic IMO.
As far as the price of rolls...its the same dealer selling them.
If one were to buy 20 rolls @ $6 ea.= $120.00 most times you get a lot of die scratches, carbon spots. It is luck of the draw if you find one worth over $200.00 you still wind up losing,so it may make more sense financially to just buy mid-range coins already graded.
However there is no better feeling than finding your own Gem from an OBW Roll. It is a roll of the dice.
Agreed. If you are buying high priced rolls in quantity, it might be a better idea just to take the plunge and buy one graded example. Otherwise, you may have to find a few just to cover the cost of the rolls.
But, like you said...there's nothing like finding your own! The thrill of the hunt.
LOL!! Such a small, small world- Joe at TLC and Randy at RS Coins both got those rolls from me....same ones I sold you a couple of months ago Lucien. Not saying to not buy them, but they're all out of the same 2 boxes, so you probably already have a pretty good idea of what's in them-

I think that is a perfectly fair assumption. That they have already searched rolls of the same box and determined that "batch" is not from the area known to produce said variety.
I guess is rather buy sealed mint bags or boxes.
There are in fact a fair amount of fair roll sellers, but I agree- if someone is offering OBW rolls that are in fact genuine, it's almost certain that the seller has spot checked some of the rolls to make sure they aren't giving away a goldmine.
