My Opinion on the 2011 and 2011 D Lincoln Shield Cent.

I have noticed that the 2011 and 2011 D Lincoln Shield Cent have a somewhat "FLAT" effect on the observse design of Lincoln's Bust. It shows to be very weak in how the transfer of the Bust Design is applied to the die and personally speaking I am not at all inpressed with how the coin's overall appearance is on the observse and the design looks to have a "FROSTED" appearance on occasion. Have anyone encountered this type of effect on the 2011 or 2011 D Lincoln Shield Cent and if so I would appreciate any comments as to how this effect occured? Thanks for any input on this subject.

The date..? not too bad. Liberty and the motto... Not too, too bad. Still a bit "fuzzy".
The cameo..? Horrid. One can rarely discern clear features. It doesn't take a person with the most astute observation skills to see that both the 2010 and 2011 strikes are not the best the mint has ever achieved. (IMO)

I think he's referring to the Mint's modification of the Lincoln cent bust. I actually like the change. Lincoln had very big strands on his beard there for a while. Now it's more like the real thing. This actually is not due to a weakness in transfer from die to coin, but an intentional design alteration. Haven't really seen frosting on any of mine.

I find the obverse (bust) to be very "mushy" in appearance. I commented on this before that the strike appears to be weak. On the other hand, Wendell is probably right that it is an intentional design change. I don't care for it thoug.
