What is an adequate loupe for a beginner?

      For beginners a loupe is to difficult. Use a 10X glass so you can see the whole coin. Later pick up a 17X, that is plenty. Good luck.

        Whatever you do, just make sure that it is of good quality. In the beginning, I was using a 10x cheap aluminum loupe, only find out later that the magnification on it, was probably about 3x. To a person who is new to this hobby or new to using equipment of the like, you wouldn't know any better. I learned as I moved along, the better the quality the looking glass, the better quality image you will see.

        Hastings is an excellent brand to use. Expensive but worth it in the end.
