    The coins that are not normal are cents where copper is plated over zinc (Part way through 1982 and later). The copper used for the plating can be contaminated with zinc, creating a brass plating.

    Your coin has no additional value as the yellow color is not due to a plating issue.

      I have an entire roll of 83s that appear brass. It usually occurs that I see a brass colored one and it's almost always an 83 when I pick it up. However, I've had a few other years that were just toned this way, others that didn't appear genuine,some where the reverse didnt match the obverse etc. Whats the best way to attribute a brass plate?
