Fred Weinberg gave me a part of a die from 1994D. I'm pretty sure it's legal.

I was actually thinking about that a weeks ago. I think it would be amazing to own the 1955 DDO die. Though I'm 99.9% sure you can't have tgem people would start making there own coins.

How are those guys making the fake 1975 and I think 1979 Ikes? I know the one guy (on ebay of course), said he had an old minting press.

I have a discontinued die from a 1998P cent. Its a government release so I guess its legal ( till they change their minds.)

The mint has sold defaced dies in presentation sets. You can pick them up on eBay for under $50. Counterfeit dies are manufactured by the counterfeiter.

I have two defaced dies from San Fran and two defaced collar dies - all were partially torched so parts of the designs show.

So... the dies have to be defaced in order for them to sell?

Yes, the mint won't release or sell anything that could conceivably be used to reproduce coins. In most cases all design is effaced, but there are some older dies out there (from the 60s) that show small portions of detail.

I Would only want one if there was actually detail on it. would be awesome if you could see a little DDO or something.
