My naked cent - '43 no wait an 83 what??

I found this last night going through a box of bank rolls. When i first saw it I thought wow found a '43 steelie until I picked it up and some the memorial on the back. Then is was what the heck... Someone must be having fun with some acid or something to dissolve the copper cladding off the coins. As I recall someone else recently found a coin like this as well. All of the copper has been removed from the way it looks. Though when looks though the scope all those pimple looking things shine and sparkle like stars. It does weight 2.49 gms.

Yeah they should have left it in a little longer. By eye, the copper appears to be all gone, but under a loupe or the scope it is all over. Hmm, I guess if a guy did enough coins and precipitated the copper out of the acid that they can legally smelt pennies and still not change the legal tender status of the coin. I wonder how many zinc coins it would take to make up a pound of copper.

I find those all the time, at least one every $50. I guess people like to do that here...

This is the first one I have found in I don't know how many boxes of rolls. There must be some bored people out there.
