Sorry, but definitely not. There is no extra thickness or notching, just a partially deteriorated die as Fido pointed out.

Yep, what you are seeing is die wear, the type found on old dies that struck copper plated zinc blanks. The motto visually appears to sink into the fields. It can be very dramatic and at times will create a doubling effect called die deterioration doubling.
