How do you store/catalog your rpm's

Hi Guys,

I've been meaning to ask. With all the rpm's out there, how do you catalog and/or store them. Do you put them in Whitman folders and make your own tags or just keep em' in flips and toss them in a box?

I use the single or double row red boxes to file all my raw coins in flips with coins in sleeves and tag them with the year, RPM#, DDO, DDR or whatever information.
I then catalog them on the computer by Red Box "A" , "B" etc. Coins are then filed by date and then by RPM # or DDO/DDR #. I use a separate box for each denomination I have or find. (I collect all denominations of variety/error coins.)

I also have a system in place for all my encapsulated coins and all denominations.

I keep mine cataloged on excel and keep them mostly in 2X2s, flips in one and two row boxes or ring binders with coin pages.

On my computer I catalog by date and RPM #. I take a picture of the obverse, reverse, close up of the date and a close up of the MM.

I'm confused I thought that flips were all clear Mylar and the the cardboard 2X2 where not flips. Also out of the two which are better for long term preserving of coins. I would think the flip would allow more air to touch the coin. But what I like about the flip is you can pull your coin out anytime without pulling out stamps first.

I use flips due to the staples and I do not like the ones with sticky gum on them. I use Archival Safe flips (NO PVC) and also I use clear sleeves (No PVC) to put the coin into before putting inserting it into the flip.
That way I fold the sleeve over and it protects the coin and I can remove or reinsert the coin into the flip anytime without touching the coin.

Didn't mean to confuse. I use both 2X2s and flips. Usually whatever is on hand at the time.

Thanks everyone for sharing. Looks like I should get a lot more supplies. I finally bought a scale, the ultra sonic cleaner is en route and need to get goo-gone once the roads are clear.

I was surprised at the price of the ring binders. After I bought a few a friend gave me several boxes of 3" ring binders. Don't think I will ever have to buy any more of them.

I think I'm set for the ring binders. I use to collect sports cards and have 3 kids in school... as long as I can stand keeping my coins in a Hannah Montana folder
