I have a found a few of these 1972's that have just the whole date doubled, not just the 2. I also found one that has the doubling on the date, and the last 2 is actually tripled. Has anyone seen this before? Does anyone know what DDO variey number thiese are?
What 1972 DDO # is just for date doubling?

Not without photographs. Are you able to post photos? Welcome to LCR.
You could also try to attribute your coin at coppercoins.com using the die variety search feature.
Pics would be great so the folks here could tell you if you even have a doubled die or some other form of doubling.Last edited by willbrooks; 05-15-2012, 07:38 PM.All opinions expressed are not necessarily shared by willbrooks or his affiliates. Welcome.
If the whole date is doubled but nothing else, it sounds like a case of machine doubling. But, like said in the previous post, photos would be needed to give any certain answers or opinions.Rock

Welcome to the forum.
Confined date doubling on 1972 is not on any known examples alone without doubling also present in the motto and LIBERTY such as you describe. I would be inclined to suspect machine doubling which is unfortunately rather common. A picture would help. Also, is the doubling naked eye obvious?
