Kermit would drink it after the kids go to bed. I never drank eggnog - am I missing something. Is it the official drink of LCR?

Sooooo....when/where is the Bar-B-Q ?? Burgers and Brats??( not unruly children, Bratwurst)
But seriously, I must visit all the sites mentioned here every day, Coppercoins, Lincoln Cent Resource, TrailDies, The Cent Project, and my son has submitted to MadDieClash. I thank each and every one of them!

You guys are having WAY too much fun, let me bring you back to reality...
Just some observations. In the last say 5 years, the whole variety/error collecting aspect has just gone nuts. First the books have been around, but only few followers. Then the internet brings more folks along with auctions like ebay that have a variety/error category. And while ANACS has been doing the Variety thing since coins were invented, it was the NGC and PCGS registry that brought on a whole new collector base. I like what I see as far as Chuck, LCR, etc. Its so needed especially when folks on Ebay are making up more and more crap in their heads. Another new service (Chuck), updated CPG soon, I mean its obvious a special part of the hobby is still growing.

Very good points WS. The error/variety fields are definitely growing. The internet has a whole lot to do with that. There are probably a whole lot more closet collectors who still haven't taken advantage of the web sites, and other things available to them now.
It is important that we keep educating people and encouraging younger collectors to continue this great hobby.

I've done the Bar-B-Que thing. 5 years on the "Memphis IN May" circuit. Also crossed over and did some Kansas City sanctioned events. Believe me when I say it consumes just as much time and is a lot more money hungry than running a website. But you do end up with a bunch of giant trophies with pigs on top.

I suppose my cue is overdue - I have been busy updating sites over the past two days.

First, I cannot speak for LCR. All I can speak for is Coppercoins and what has been done, what is being done, and what will be done with that site. With that to wit, a few points:

                                1. There has not been any 'unexpected growth' at coppercoins.com. It has performed rather steadily for years, and the numbers are low compared to where I would expect them to be.

                                2. The site has always functioned at less than 50% completeness. Once I dug into it full steam I learned more and was made aware that I painted myself into a corner with my code a number of times. I stopped to reassess the situation,a nd never picked up on it again. Most of that was because I didn't know how to proceed forward - and still don't.

                                3. Money hasn't really been an issue as much as incentive has been an issue. There have been a couple of times where I was short of cash and had to rob from Peter to pay the server bill - but most of the time I have had the out-of-pocket to cover the expenses. Incentive, however, is a different ball of wax.

                                4. Everybody does stuff for something. Either they love it, are getting paid for it, or just 'want' it. For me, incentive is multi-faceted. At one time I just wanted coppercoins to exist, regardless of whether anyone saw it. Later, I wnted it to be more than it was, but didn't have the capital to make it more. At this point, I'm fed up with what little it is, and am ready to either throw in the towel or make it BIG. Money has something to do with that. To date, I have never profited from the site. 12 years, and I've seen no profit with thousands of dollars in expenses annually, and that's to say nothing for the time put into it. Realistically, and this point, if I do go forward with making it bigger, I want to see my money for all the years of labor come back, and as profit - not a re-pay of a self-loan. I want my retirement fund to start growing now. If it doesn't happen, I'll probably wrap a bow around it and hand it off to someone who cares, because I won't.
