    Input on microscope package.

I need some recommendations for a new microscope.

I want something capable of taking clear photos of coins out
to 60x or even more. I've read a few discussions here concerning
AMSCOPES. I looked around and immediately got confused by the
number and complexity of the packages offered.

I'm not overly into bells & whistles, but I don't want to be disappointed
and have to make a subsequent purchase to get what I want, either, so
    a little over-engineering is OK.

This scope package will be used for electronic photos of coins exclusively.
    User-friendly is a huge plus. I'm a bit of a dinosaur, I'm afraid. An anti-nerd,
    if you will.

I'd like to keep it under a thousand bucks, if possible.

Tell me what you think, please.

    Thanks

I got mine from Hong Kong for 29 dollars. Works great.

I would definitely stick with something that has a zoom range as low as 5x. You'll find that 60x is probably way too much. But I think Will's suggestion has merit,I've seen some great pics taken with some pretty cheap setups.Maybe experiment with used/cheap stuff until you learn what suits your needs.

Here is a link showing the thing. http://dx.com/p/digimicro-200x-zoomi...croscope-11743
I don't remember which supplier I actually used. It goes from 10x up to like 200x, and takes photographs. The main problem I had was that it wasn't windows7 compatible, but my computer buddy was able to unlock some hidden files in the software to make it work. I also just saw now doing this search some links for a windows7 driver for it, so maybe that isn't an issue anymore. I figured even if it was a piece of junk, it wasn't a big risk at 30 bucks. It works fine and that is what I have been using to search and photograph my coins. I'm sure the amscope is much nicer, but I would recommend this for a beginner with limited resources. (like me)
