    1959 no color

A friend found out i was collecting cents, he gave me this coin that he thought was a war penny, he had not checked the date just looked at the color, i have read that this is a result of using a acid to remove the copper coating but how does that happen to a coin that is 95 per copper. it is a 1959.

It may have been plated after mint. PSD

It could be plated or just have been exposed to some chemical. But we really need better pics, weight, and try a magnet to see if it sticks.Wrong metal planchets are hard to determine by pics alone though.

Mercury or somehow plated are likely. If there is no loss of detail, I would think it could have been exposed to heat or some chemical.
