wow!!! it just amazes me how fast these modern coins do not last, i think if you are able to find one that is ms 69 or even if you are really lucky to find one that is a perfect ms 70. you have a coin that you could set your own value on. i am always looking for a coin from the shield series that is that high of a grade but wow it seems to be impossible. even in mint sets they have flaws to them.
My problem with this touches on another point of contention: whether the US should continue to mint the cent. One of the premier arguments is that, even though it costs so much more to make a cent than it's face value, it is still worth it, because coinage has such a long life-span and can be used over and over and over.... Well, if we continue to make this crap that lasts as long as a dollar bill, then there is a problem. I say we start making cents out of plastic.
