red book as a buying guide

I have info on a local dealer that has a lot of cents that i could fill my folder with, is the red book prices a good price guide to negotiate with ? or what price above that is good for me.

Im not really good with the whole grading thing but when i buy a hole filler for my album i always pay a few dollars under the redbook price at my local coin store... Thats what i use to decide if the price is right for me.

red books are....subjective..all price guides are subjective...most dealers don't use redbooks....a 2013 redbook....cameout in 2012...prices were compiled late 2011 to early 2012....ask what dose he use....If your dealer uses the grey sheet.......a dealer price guide paper......that would be what i would use....if its coin world magazine prices... that's what to use...my dealer uses E-Bay...I check on E-Bay...and talk the price up or down....found out what he uses....get your own copy...then go from there.....others might have more advice...

The best negotiation tool is auction prices realized and the Grey Sheet. http://www.pcgs.com/auctionprices/
