Verdi-Cared it. Forgot it was a semi-key date, guess I'm getting so much into varieties that I'm forgetting the basics. Anyway, what do you all think it'd grade at? I'm betting on either XF or AU.

Definately AU. However it is always hard to grade from a photo. Your pics show up too dark for me to see enough detail. Have you ever tried to grade your coins using PCGS PHOTOGRADE? It can usually get you within 15 points or so. Some coins, I think, will grade perfect for you. I haven't done a lot of Lincoln Cents on there because I've looked at so many wheats you just get the hang of it.
Check it out.Mark -
I really do need to invest in a microscope setup one of these days. I have Photograde on my phone but I use it as a last resort only. Grading, IMO, is too subjective to be laid out in a photo guide like that even if it just meant to be examples and quite honestly I found that the written descriptions of grades were more helpful.Comment

Here are some better pictures.Comment

Update: Submitted it to ANACS, it came back an AU 53. Apparently the Verdi care didn't cause any issues.Comment

"Coingrades" on the slab! ANACS is usually a pretty harsh grader, glad they liked this one.Comment

Hmm...I definitely would have been EF45 on this one. Cheek and jaw are too flat for AU.Charles D. Daughtrey, NLG, Author, "Looking Through Lincoln Cents"

Just goes to show the subjectivity of coin grading. I would take Chuck's grading over anyone else's, but since it is slabbed AU53, it could make a significant difference if selling it.Hmm...I definitely would have been EF45 on this one. Cheek and jaw are too flat for AU.Bob Piazza

Looked like a AU50 to me in the first pictures, and XF45 to me in the second set of pictures. Just goes to show you the difficulty in grading from photos. PCGS has a weekly grading challenge on Facebook...it is tough.Comment
