    huge double die lot?

Hi all, looking for some input on how to sell and exclusive lot of doubled dies, there will be some very nice doubled dies in this lot include coins such as 1917,1927,1936,1938,1940,1941,1944,1947,1955,1959, 1960,1962,1963,1964&1964 ddr's,1970, 1971,1972,1973,1976,1968,1969, 1982,1983,1984,1985,1986,1987,1988,1989, 1994,1995 to 2012, just way to many to list, this is an incredible lot of coins and in this lot will be one thousand of them and most are au to bu condition. i have to downsize my collection a little bit and this is a small amount of what i have. looking for ideas. i want to sell as a lot, so someone will make out on this deal. the coins average value at a low value of over 14k.

Tell me your ideas, any input would be great.
    thank you

Well, I think it depends on time/effort vs. how much you hope to realize. Obviously you will make more over time if you sell piece by piece to the highest bidder. Yet, if you don't want to be bothered with all the time involved in doing that, a dealer will most likely take them off your hands, but at a fraction of the "value" of which you are placing on them.
Personally, I'd slab the most desirable pieces and sell those off piecemeal.
The rest I'd offer as a bulk lot to a knowledgeable dealer.
    Another idea?
Take a day to inventory them. Put a list right here on LCR, and let the collectors go nuts!
    Good luck, George.

If you try to sell them as a lot, you need to accept that you are going to get low offers or no offers. No one is going to fork over $14K for coins they cannot even see.

You need to assign values and put a list together. If you price them low, people will buy several at a time. You could even list discounts for large prices. If you want to group the less valuable ones together than that's fine, but the lots need to be $100 or less.

I agree with Dennis and Brad. Follow their advice unless you want to get $500 for a lot you feel is worth $14k.

And I would start with a list on LCR...

Honestly I might be interested in the whole lot if I had a chance to view the entire lot...but I wouldn't touch it before that.

One thing I might want to remind everybody of is that the trading post is for the paid membership...so let's not forget that point.

I thought about that too, but I felt it was okay.

I think this thread is more about advice, which he could not get if he used the trading post, since people cannot reply. Plus, he is a member. If we moved his thread, no one could respond. That's my thinking anyhow.

Thank you fellas for the advice on the subject, as far as the lot goes, i will be generating a list and pictures as well and i do understand that i am not going to get what they are worth overall but i have so many doubled dies that it is not going to hurt me to take a little loss. i will be making this lot avialable to the members here first and let me tell ya this, if you are genuine collector of the Lincoln cent then you do not want to miss this deal, it is going to take a while to get the list ready for viewing.

I want to take this moment and say sry to Simon, i forgot to send you some coins and i am sry about that, i am saying this to everyone here because i am an honest man and stick by my word, i am going to send you Simon a whole roll of mixed doubled die reverses with the extra columns and ones with extra feet and knees because i remember you saying that you do not get these in your area and i am going to send this roll out Monday to you. Sry that i forgot, been very busy.

thank you fellas again for the advice and i will get the list done and post it here once finished.
