Wow those 2009 pennys sure are expensive!

Man i did a search on Ebay for 2009 penny's and they were selling 2 rolls of them for 15 dollars! I can't believe how expensive they are. Now i'm convinced to wait until August. Though i'm still excited to collect all 4 different kinds. Or is it 8! (If you include the Denver mint) Do you guys think they are going to do this for every new year or just 2009?

i think its all hype because the coin is new & different. Just wait awhile and it will die down. For the prices, i'm gonna wait and see what the mint will charge for the new pennies on march 13th. So stay tuned and see how fast the price will drop.

2 rolls for $15 isnt bad at all. Seeing how they were goinf for $50-$150 the 1st day. Over $700 for a box of $25...I made a nice turn around with them but I shared mine with select few..lol

        A Great price?

Those 700 dollar boxes were very steep indeed. However, if you consider what a gemBU roll of 1986 goes for, and try finding a box. Just having an early box is very cool, but the trouble is, WHADDA YOU DO WITH IT? If you open it, you can't certify every early roll unless you divvy up the dough to one of those grading people, or someone less expensive, but to my mind way better, like DVN's attribution service.
1983 rolls sell for 10-20 dollars...
1988 rolls sell for 10-20 dollars...
and we haven't even gotten to 1986-D, which is tough to find, and very expensive.
Here is my call. If you have an unopened box, dtd before the 12 Feb release, you can submit the whole box to get it attributed as early releases, and those cents can be sold for ten bucks per with a certificate. If you wait a while, you may (years) be able to market them for more.
Imagine if someone had left a box of 1909 S-VDB cents.
Now fast fwd 30 years and imagine finding an unopened 2009 Box of early release LogCabin Cents. With a postmark?...What's it sell for then?... In 70 Years?...
in 100 years for one lucky great great grandkid?

you also have to remember that when they release the 50.00 mint bag Thur the fed or the mint site that it will also be dated and sewn shut so keep an eye out for that ...jonathan go to your local bank and talk to the head teller or the girl that's in charge of the vault that orders coins...ask them to keep you in mind if they see anything or ordering the new lincoln penny...by the bag or the box Thur the fed disturbution not the local brinks...richard
