Keeping track of the number of coins you've searched

I've found that tearing off the end of the bank box (most of them are perforated) and keeping them in a little box (or another bank box) is a good way to tally up the number of cents searched throughout the year. You just count the tabs and multiply by 2500. If you write the date on the 2x2's, you'll also remember exactly when you found what.
Thought this might be helpful to those interested in keeping track of their finds (and don't want to write anything down in a journal.)
    Keep up the hunt,
    Dennis

It would not work for me. I get bags, bricks, customer rolled and sometimes loose coins.

Some might care... Some might not.

I fall in the "some" group. (...and I'm completely OCD.)

I just created an Excel spreadsheet to track finds and amount searched...since I'm at my pc that should work even if I do decide to clean up my disorganized desk. Thanks for the reminder Dennis !

I am too lazy to keep records, but since I save all the copper, and I know that I average 25% copper, I can back track to get the total amount searched. I have 1500 lbs of copper so I have searched approx. 876,000 cents since I started this hobby.

I buy by the bag - it's a lot easier, for me anyway. I'm too busy searching to keep track. What I should track is how much soap I use after night of searching. LOLOLOL

I always wonder how many search bare handed like I do.

I search a box and then write my findings in a notebook which then gets transferred to an excel spreadsheet. I'm super OCD when it comes to tracking stuff. My spreadsheet does a good job at adding everything up for me so I can see how many cents I've searched, dollar value, and number of boxes. Excel is great!

Gun - I used to search bare handed but I started getting painful red bumps on my hands that would end up. Hurt like crazy. I started using latex gloves and have had zero issues since. Plus it's super fast/easy to clean up.

For me, it's a minimum of 1 brick a week, bare handed. There is a lot of hand washing that happens here. And I keep track of my major finds by searching my posts in this forum. I post them as I find them.

That's strange furryfrog about the bumps. Maybe your allergic to copper or zinc?

Lately I try to not keep track or try to meet any goal, keep it fun and only do it when I want to.

Agree that it can be dirty, especially old wheats. When I search wheat bags I always put out a layer of newspaper on my table. After a bag the paper is dirty. Never eat while searching LOL
