So the close and friendly hometown bank has turned out not so coin collector friendly. Today I called SunTrust to see if the brick I ordered has come in and was transferred to the branch manager. I was told that I can only order one "box of pennies" per month. Needless to say, when I pick up the brick later today, I am closing my account as well.
Please tell me where the coin collector friendly banks are in the Nashville area, this is ridiculous!
I was told at several banks that the local bank manager makes the decisions on what kind of customer service they will offer in cases like yours Vivien. If you find one that caters to your needs, then hold on to them. Even then, they can change at a moments notice. I am sure that if you search your area, you will find one that meets your needs. Make sure you talk to the CSRs or manager before you open your account and ask them if they are willing to do what you ask. Nashville has lots of banks, so good luck on that search. Don't get too discouraged.

Here (SW suburb of Chicago) I have had great co-operation within some very reasonable restrictions. However, I too have been told it differs from branch to branch. The main bank location has been very nice to me -- but I have never really gotten more than one brick a week..... yet
As suggested, I would go to a different branch before I went to the trouble of closing my account. Besides, if you can get one brick a month from each of several branches where can you go wrong?
Some of my banks (Santander, for example) will gladly accommodate me. Others (like Metro) tell me to pound sand. It's all a matter of finding the right one and surprisingly huge banks seem to be more cooperative.
Thanks guys! It's not because they are too busy, it is a very small town branch. I think they are so small that their ordering is strictly limited. When they say they have to reserve a certain amount for their commercial accounts, that consists of three gas stations, a McDonald's, Dollar General and Family Dollar. I was trying to avoid having to drive into the city, but looks like I will have to.
I'd find another source before closing my account....you might find yourself with no boxes. Don't forget you can ask friends to pick up what they can at their own banks...and I also have a dozen friends saving all their pennies for me...word gets around

I was told the commercial accounts (my town has many retail stores) helps the fact that they have generous amounts of all change on hand for us...
Very good advice, and Maineman I was just thinking this morning that I can ask some friends to buy bricks at their banks for me. Maybe I will hold off closing my account until I find something better. Strange thing though, the other day I took 20 rolls in just to exchange them until my brick came in this week and the teller said she only had $1.50 in cents. I am just tired of practically having to beg for Lincolns. I ended up having to buy 10 rolls (the most they would sell me) at WalMart. I definitely need a better hook up!!
Or just look at the bright side, they said you can get a box a month.
Find more sources like that, you'll get more diversity.
Having multiple sources is a good thing
I find that any bank can change depending on the teller or randomly. One day they don't want to give them out or take them in but then randomly if I try again in 6 months it's different people and a different answer.
You are right GrumpyEd, I usually try to count to 100 before I destroy a bridge. I made it to about 20 and got mad... Getting ready to open this brick that I had to fight so hard to get and see if there are any 2014's present
