How do you get rid of this - again?

We talked about this at some point in the past when I had the same problem, and I cannot find the old posts. I use Firefox, and have already checked the add-ons, and it's not listed. I have also ran malwarebytes - no luck.

    Anyone?

I believe you unchecked Java but in reading further I'm not sure if that was the cause or the final solution?

Looks like your ultimate fix last time was too uninstall the browser completely and download again. Something your downloading or somewhere you're going is fudging with your browser.

I've tried both of those things, and neither have worked this time. Even did a system restore (well, my wife did) and that didn't take care of it.

I actually had to take my PC down to a computer shop to have it de-bugged. Everything that I tried did not work to get rid of this problem. I picked up this problem from a TV ad that advertised a certain site.

If all else fails, I would use Combofix. This program comes with all the requisite warnings, but I've used it countless times on my computers and other people's computers and I've never had the first issue with it.

Combofix is a freeware application designed for advanced users to scan and manually remove malware and spyware from your computer running Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8. This is the last resort after you have exhausted removal options with your anti-virus or a program like Malwarebytes because there is no reversing what it does.

Yes, combofix hooked me up a few times. IIRC, they have a forum full of very helpful people too.

Sorry folks - Bob took care of the situation a couple of days ago and I forgot to post in here that it was solved. I'm not sure what he did to clear it up, exactly, but it worked.

I just experienced the same thing after downloading gimp. I fixed it by uninstalling gimp and all the other programs that came with it.
