    Oldest wheat circulation finds

I found a 1910 wheat at work one day, which is the oldest wheat I've found in circulation. I've since found two Indian heads, a 1893 and a 1900. I'm not sure what the second oldest wheat I've found is because I don't have all of them cataloged.

2x 1909 VDB is my oldest wheat-find in circulation. Not certain about IH... I've found at least 1/4 a roll of them though.

Nice! How long have you been searching? I've been searching at work for a little over a year but I've just started buying rolls at the bank and have only gone through 3 boxes so far.

Since january of 2011. I don't search regularly... At the rate I'm going right now it will be less than $500FV for this year.

I think 1913 was my oldest wheat; oldest branch mint one was a '15-D. Two IH to my credit, a 1894 and a 1904.

            A few 1909's and a few 1909 vdb's for me. I've found around 12 IHC's since I've been searching.

You all have me beat. The oldest wheat I've found is 1940. Never found any indian heads. The 2 I have my grandma gave me before she passed.

1863 Civil War Token, 1864 Indian, about a dozen 1909 cents, both VDB and plain. Oldest branch mint was a 1912D. Been doing this since 1979, and have been through probably more than 500,000 cents from circulation.

I've also found tax tokens, coal scrip tokens, foreign coins, and well over $5 in dimes, both Mercury and Roosevelt (silver and clad). Most unusual find there - a Turkish gold coin that weighed in at around 0.2 ozt.

Wow! What a find! What kind of condition was it in? Where did you find it? In a roll or in change? My mind is blown. Do you still have it or did you sell it?

I have you beat on this as I've found two, but the 1909-S VDB is a major find that beats anything I've ever found. Congratulations on a great find.

I still have it, it currently resides in a PCGS XF40 holder. I found it in a customer wrapped roll of 50 wheats I got from the bank.

Nice. It gives us all hope for finding a rare coin in circulation. While not nearly as rare, I keep findiing 1970-S pennies but I haven't found a small date yet. Maybe one of these days I will.

Ive gone through a couple thousand dollars worth of bags, boxes and rolls. I am still yet to find a 70S small date.
