    1937 Proof Cents

This may be a strange question, but does anyone know if 1937 cents usually have a lot of die scratches. I have seen a lot with scratches, like this on:

It is hard to tell if they are die scratches or just scratches from pictures. The one I own looks like scratches from cleaning, but it is hard to tell for sure. I just wanted to know if anyone had any info on this.

I see scratches on the plastic Brad. But, did you try a Google image search ? It brings up quite a few pictures of 37 proofs to compare.

I am not aware of any scratch issues on the 1937 proof cents. I think the scratches on this coin is on the plastic as well. I do not believe any proof coins would have left the mint in 1937 with the marks that are seen in this pic.

I have a 37 proof, no die scratches and I've never heard of it being an issue on these. TOUGH coin, very low mintage and not many survivors. I still don't have a 36 proof, even lower mintage and harder to find.

Brad I have 3 of the 37s and see nothing that looks like die or cleaning scratches on any of them. The plastic is definitely damaged on the Heritage coin and might be worth a re-holder even though it's not worth a considerable amount.

Probably just cleaning scratches on mine. It is certified so I thought it was okay.
