    PCGS/ANACS submissions

Got back a 5 coin submission to PCGS a couple days ago. Good grades for 4 of them but I disagree strongly with the 1972.

ANACS submission on special had both coins come back a grade higher than expected, though they wouldn't call the 1964 1DR-012.

Been a long time since I posted on here, been pretty busy with school but still following regularly.

Did the 72 have machine doubling or what ? Just wondering what they called machine damage. Nice 88 !

Very nice!! Why did they put the machine damage on the 72? Not sure I've seen an "unc details" with MS64 on a slab?

That 88D is a stunner! Do you have pre-slab pictures of it?

I most likely will crack the 1972 out and send it to ANACS in the future indeed. As for why it went machine damage I have no idea, no machine doubling or anything unusual. I looked it over well and there is no apparent damage to my eye. I'm pretty sure the damage was noted only by whoever finalized the grade because the cert number shows 64BN without noting damage. Then they accidentally put the pre and post damage grades on the holder.

Here is the 1988 that I purchased from Bob on ebay. It's a fantastic looking coin.

If I were you, I would call PCGS. That may well be simply a mechanical error that they should repair.

I think they goofed on the 72.
It doesn't look very BN either.

                Nice coins.

Thanks guys. There definitely is a goof somewhere on their end since the coin has 2 grades on the holder. The coin is actually mostly red with some dark red/brown toning. I was shocked when I saw the grade(s) they gave it.

Sent this coin back to PCGS with a letter explaining there was a goof on their end. They agreed to fix it. I will not pay anything for this. It is currently listed under their regular service which means an estimated 15 days to get it regraded... Still better than my other recent submission though on modern (not the coins above), 48 day turnaround. That means 10 weeks to grade that other submission.

                        Good news!

Sometimes it takes a lot of effort to get them graded right.
I consider this when buying coins, what the coin is worth plus the value of it being in the holder I want if it's already in it.

I agree that the 72 has an incorrect label. I really am impressed with the 68 on the 88. Very, very nice!

Got the grade back online. Listed as MS 64 RD now. Big thanks to everyone on here, especially Chris Welch who made sure I sent the coin back to PCGS to get fixed! Very happy with the end results.
