    1931-S observations?

    What do you guys think?

    1) cleaned or not?
    2) obverse - gunk or corrosion?
    3) ms/AU/XF?
    4) fair price to bid?

    thanks guys!

It is corrosion and still looks active. I personally would look for a better one.

Thank you Bob. I have my eye on another one I really want. The color just grabbed me on this one. The other coin is graded so I now it doesn't have problems. Thanks again!

I did not like that one for the price, surfaces are not nice and green stuff.

I see a BIN for a PCGS 63 BN with nice color that's about double the price but I like it about 10 times better.

Every time I bought a coin like the other one (almost $90) then later saw one without a problem I was sad that I bought the first one because if I had that $90 saved instead of sunk into the problem coin then buying the better one would be another $90. Even if I had to delay buying for my budget, I felt better about it. I'd rather buy the nicer one instead of buying a problem then later ending up buying a better one then needing to sell the problem coin. In the end, buying the cheaper ones might cost more in total if you end up upgrading it down the road.

You could probably find a problem free AU for a little more than the one you passed on.
