Topic for discussion : PCGS genuine holders

As of late there has been some posts talking about PCGS as well as 1909-S VDBs

This may be a good topic: PCGS Genuine holders

I have probably been in a cave , but interested in knowing ..

How long has this PCGS Genuine holder thing been going on?

Less than a year I think. I think that it is a good idea for PCGS.

Yep, PCGS can't lose they'll make money either way (be it a body bag or sticking it in plastic)

Tons Lincolns out there which have been as they say been "cleaned" and I would think lots of those coins will now find residence in pretty well respected grading service holder and people will feel better paying for 'em.

This isn't too bad as it looks like it comes back a NO grade. Which is a tip off.

Hey does anyone remeber years ago when ANACS first began, I seem to remember they would acknowledge the cleaning by knocking 'em down a grade or maybe two? This was all before enapsulation existed. I think it was in the 70s or 80s?

I know that ANACS gave "NET" grades. I have seen those on pre-slab certificates.

I keep an eye out for those old certificates. For the time, the photos were pretty cool. ( though the Lincoln here isn't too shabby either )

Any way, I don't come across many certificates like this any longer.
They have gone the way of the Dinosaur and the typewriter.
