Is its large date, or small date for the 1970 S/S Top 100 RPM 1

It claims to be small here:

And it jives with Coppercoins even though it does not mention if its large or small date that I could see.

And at CONECA it claims to be large here as it says in parentheses Large date unless I am reading something wrong.

    So whats wrong?, me?

The MM on Copper Coins appears to be separated farther north/south than the one on ebay??? The one on ebay also appears to be a small date??? You may want to send Bob a PM to come and look!!!

I have found both Large and small Date RPM 1 on Ebay - still confused, But of course I can see both having a RPM.

Now I'm confused, how can rpm#1 be on both large and small. Totally agree both can have a rpm but both being #1. Don't see it.

I'll look when I get a chance but I'm sure mine is a large date.

This one is confusing to me. I think because of the extra thickness on the date. I have not seen this one before but I would say it is a small date.

            Mine is a large date..
RPM 1 can not be on both large date and small date as each RPM is assigned a number based on the DIE.
we could have 2 very similar RPMs 1 on a large date and 1 on a small date but they can not both be called RPM 1
I highly doubt this is the case.

NOTE: Looking at the pic to your first link I see a large date coin
            AND
sellers info states that PCGS mislabeled it as a small date.

RPM-1 is only on the LD.

RPM-1 and the SD both come from mint sets, I've heard that some are found outside of mint sets but some of those could be escapees. It would be interesting to know how likely it is to find either of them in truly original OBW rolls.

70-S are full of MD coins. I've seen some with MD that looked similar to RPM-1. Some also have MD that makes a LD look similar to a SD because it deforms the 9 or pinches it's blunt inside curl to look pointed. Those MD coins can cause false alarms until you look close and see that they're normal LD coins with MD.

For some reason the TPGs and dealers often goof up their attributions marking LD as SD. Never buy them based on what is on the slab or flip without verifying it yourself.
