    Grading submissions?

Thinking about submitting my first batch of coins soon. Concerning raw coins, do I have to specify a minimum grade or can I just put "Any" if I'm willing to accept any grade? I'm unclear about this section of the PCGS form.

Also, concerning declared values, what do I do if I don't know the value? I can average recent values from EBay and other auctions but if I don't know the grade, I'm just guessing. Do they modify the values if they disagree?

    Thanks guys!

The minimum grade stuff should only be for crossovers (ones already in another TPGs slab) or bulk submissions (when dealers send big quantities) so you shouldn't need to put anything down for minimum.

For declared value I put my estimate, basically something reasonable and equal to whatever I insured them for when I sent them.
If you get a super high grade they could bug you but that's never happened to me yet, they don't expect you to know exactly when sending them in

Raw coins should not have a minimum grade. Decide what grade you think the coin is, then insure it for that value on the PCGS Price Guide or the next grade higher. Some people think the insured price influences the graders...I have no idea.

Look at it this way. If the coin is damaged or somehow lost by PCGS, they will replace it based on what YOU said it was worth. So significant stuff should be valued accordingly. I am pretty sure the graders never see the submission sheet.

I submitted a batch last week. It's real simple with PCGS and can be done electronically. Just fill in what information it ask then print sign and send. Only issue So far is the USPS. They want you to use their tape to seal your package if sending registered.

Hope this will clarify your question about grading.
            GRADING:
For raw coins (not encapsulated). Minimum Grade - you may (but are not required to) specify a minimum acceptable grade (only available for coins dated 1965 to date). Coins graded below the minimum acceptable grade will not be holdered; however, the full grading fee will be charged.
