Hi folks. Over the past few months, I have been asked many times about the coppercoins web site as well as my involvement in that site and this forum. Before I begin, let me reiterate something that is VERY important. Coppercoins.com is not my web site. The site belongs to Chuck Daughtrey and all of the decisions concerning it are his. He will ask for my opinions occasionally. I am still an attributer for the site and I will address that a little later also.
As some of you know, we endeavored to upgrade coppercoins last year. We had made some good progress, but ran into programming issues. The current status of the new coppercoins is still in limbo. In addition, personal life changes for both Chuck and myself had to take priority. Our options were to leave coppercoins as it was, or remove it all together. Coppercoins server fees and all that goes with it are still being paid by Chuck. I moved down to Bradenton so that Chuck and I could work those issues together. I have since moved back up to Northwest Florida.
Based on the age of the database as well as the old programming used, we decided last year to suspend new attributions. We are still not doing attributions. When and if the new coppercoins goes on line, all of the data will need to be re accomplished. It would be foolish to add new data only to change it.
Rest assured I have not lost my passion for the Lincoln cent, varieties, errors or for coppercoins.com and the Lincoln Cent Forum. Because I do not participate as often as I used to does not mean I am not checking things daily. I do, and just limit the amount of responses I make. There are many people here now who are more than qualified to answer your questions.
I apologize for the coppercoins.com delay, but I agree with Chuck and his priorities 100%. For now, the site will remain as is so that you at least have access to the 3,100 varieties and 19,000 photos we do have listed.
We appreciate our fans and hope you will still use coppercoins as much as possible.
