1941-D Toned Roll

I picked up a toned BU Roll of 1941-D Cents a while back and just got around to looking at it. Turns out the entire roll is beautifully toned. There is a range of color and level of toning through the roll. The roll was tubed when I bought it, and it appears that two coins were replaced as they don't match the rest for toning. At least one of the roll end coins is still here, and it is nearly solid black on one side. Opinions welcome! I may take the time to image all 48 of the toned coins.

Unreal! I've never seen a rainbow quite like that on wheat. Good stuff!

Thanks Profiler and Roller. The coin is looks pretty much exactly as the image shows for color, but it is more lustrous than the photo would indicate. It's pretty hard to capture true color AND show the luster fully. For a coin like this, color is obviously more important...Ray

deuce2seven...I agree, rainbows like this are pretty rare on copper. You can see the progression from blue to purple to yellow to green.

Those are sure pretty coins!
41-S rolls are very high priced, 41-D are usually priced a lot lower but from what I've seen there are less 41-D rolls out there.
Sort of a sleeper date.
That's a nice roll!

Did you find any doubled dies in it?

I've found several of the Coneca Die-1 (1DO-004 on CC). The listed one on the site was one that I found. They're another DDO that you can easily miss until you see one at the right angle and lighting and it's clear as day then you start finding more of them.

Absolutely phenomenal, Ray! What a wonderful group of coins!! I can tell that they all were struck from the same die too. Note the prominent SW-NE die scratch coming off the tip of the left wheat stalk on the reverse of each coin as well as the die scratch running E-SE from WE in the Motto. Thanks for posting those, I think they are simply beautiful!!!
