A list of little known rare dies

The recent posts about 1960D-1MM-071 brought to my attention what a rare find this die is and made me wonder what other dies might fall into the rare but not top 50 category.

For those that know please feel free to list a few here.

    John

I will start with one I have hoped to find for years
    1990P-1DO-003
So sad ... My reverse consumption engine was a broken fuel gauge ... gonna look at coins now. John

1996 die 1 and 2 get little to no attention and seem to be impossible to find, yet I salivate for them greatly.

Hard to believe it's been that long! But, to be clear, this variety has been known for a very, very ling time. And to my knowledge, John's is only the second one ever reported.
I'd like to add the 1971-d doubled die obverse and 1995 ddo-002.
These were two varieties I was SURE would be in the new Cherrypickers guide, but were not given the nod

They had to save that room so they could list some die damage again rather than actual varieties.

I like the 1925 WDDO-001. It was I thought listed on Coppercoins but not any longer. Very minor to be considered I am sure, But still a rare variety coin IMHO.

Back in 1996 I bought the then newly published "The Authoritative Reference On Lincoln Cents " by Wexler and Flynn. The 1990 ddo was listed in the book and I have looked for it with every 1990 that has passed my way since.
Funny, the craze for the Big 1995 ddo was going on then and I thought for sure I had found one and my Cherry Pickers Guide didn't show it at the time. So I went into my local coin shop and there was Wexler's book and my coin was in it. I never have found a 95 die #1 but the coin I found was a die#2 and the reason I bought the book . After all these years I haven't found another die #2, and to think back I was disappointed it wasn't the big one !

                John,
You scored nicely with the 1995 die 2, as the die 1 is big not only in doubling but sheer numbers. I have found 3 #1's (oddly all within the last 4 years or so) and only 1 die 2. It is offered for sale only occasionally, and you know you can buy the "big one" by the roll.

It is hard to believe that it has already been three years since I found that 1990! Plus, what a bizarre place for it to turn up way out here in the northwest?!? I have patiently awaited another discovery to be made, but I have heard of none being found anywhere. Even the location of the first discovery coin is a mystery. I did hear Bob P. once say that he had examined a third specimen, but it was heavily damaged.

I would like to add either the 1996-D DDO-001 http://www.varietyvista.com/01b%20LC...996DDDO001.htm

                  or

1996-D DDO-002 http://www.varietyvista.com/01b%20LC...996DDDO002.htm To the list of difficult obscurities and while we are on the subject... Has anyone ever found an example of the 1973P-1DR-001? http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/d...&die_state=mds That's a coin I've looked for a long time and never found.

As for RPM's. How about the 1973D-1MM-009? http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/d...&die_state=mds

And finally, here's a coin that, while not a variety per se, would blow most of our socks off if found:

Good luck out there and happy searching everyone!!

Totally not on my radar! I used to buy every 73 roll that came my way hoping to find the ddo and I know that I didn't check for this die. At least I never get rid of unc. rolls so now I have my work cut out for me !

These 2 are so scarce they fly under the radar.
Not sure how many ever showed up but I only remember 1 or 2 of each.
Maybe the 88-P price needs a few 0s added to it's prices if no more turned up, I know I'd snap up a 65 RD for $150 in a flash if they existed.

Ever since I saw the listing for this one I have hoped to find one . Not sure if anyone has noticed it stuck in the middle of Wexlers listings for this date. 2000 1c WDDR-020

Die varieties such as doubled dies, Repunched mint marks (RPMs), Over Mint Marks (OMMs), Repunched Dates, Overdates, coin design varieties, as well as regular coins and error coins.
