    2015-P(DIME)

    Here's two(2) dimes that have weak strikes on the obv. Also has machine doubling.Most of the roll looks like this.

    I found a 2016 like that yesterday. I believe it's a combo of grease and worn die.

      I have seen a few like that also... I figured it was all die wear but grease filled could also be involved!!!

        Those dies were living up to their homonym counterparts...they were dying all right!

        SO hard to find well-struck examples of business strike dimes and nickels; from the 70s and 80s it seems even more pronounced. I haven't really researched the phenomenon recently...might be as simple as the die alloys were crap. Or they just struck so darn many (and on the cheap!) they fatigued the dies to extremes.

        If I find a well-struck LC from the mid-seventies I card it up right away. I just have this feeling that in the era of billions of coins minted, the sharp and well-defined coins are going to command a tidy premium in the future.

          The doubling here is definitely from die deterioration.
