I bought a book a coulple years ago to keep track of my collections and what pennies I had. In the book it has 1965(p) 1965(d) 1965(s). It does this for all three years. I know that Philly ment was the only one put out in those years or I thought. Is this actually true that there was more than one mint each years, pds, or was Philly the only one? If there was more than one how can you tell the difference?

Hi lcaryy,
I'm going off of memory here but I think all 3 mints produced the coins for 65,66 and 67 but without mint marks to try and control collecting/hoarding. You can't tell the difference as far as I know. As for your album, I just checked my Whitman and it only has one hole for those years. I don't about Dansco. Who made your albums? Or did I misunderstand what you meant by book? Are you talking about an album that you put the coins in or a cataloging book where you put a check mark by the year/mint that you have.
Thanks,

There were no D or S mint cents for 1965, 66, or 67. I believe the cents were only minted in Philadelphia. There were Special Mint Sets for those same years, but none of them had mint marks either.Bob Piazza

None of the coins minted in the United States during 1965-1967 had a Mintmark applied nor where there any proofs made.

This Book was printed by at least 2002 b/c it has that listed as the last cent on the Book. I guess it could have been printed earlier but I don't know why. We can't determine what we as a country will do with our currency two years in advance. So they would not try to figure out what they will do 40 years in advance. I will say that all the mint marks are in (). We do this on (p) to show what mint it came out of. So maybe that is a way of saying that the pennies were minted in the other mints but not shown as so???
THanks for all the information guys.

If this is the case, are there any years with (S) or (W)? Both made cents without mint marks for a number of years in the 70's to 80's.Comment
