    What is total cost?

Hello everyone being relatively new to collecting I had a question about sending in coins for grading. I know the cost can vary depending upon who you send it to, but are there other factors. Say I send in a coin and it grades at MS64, and another one grades at MS67. Does it cost me the same for each? What if one is worth only 100.00 but the other for whatever reason is worth 10,000. Does it still cost the same? Thanks everyone

Cost generally doesn't change for grade, but there are up charges for varieties as a general rule. You will need to check out websites of the PCGS, NGC, and ANACS to get specifics as each ones differs slightly. And you should also slab mainly coins that will benefit from slabbing....it usually doesn't pay to spend $25 or $50 slabbing a coin that is only worth that to begin with. That's when it pays to post your coin and get opinions first.

There are other services that the companies offer such as conservation better imaging faster turn around time and things like that... Also the coins value affects the cost of insurance and shipping... A 10,000 dollar coin will require more insurance and I would think a better form of shipping to protect from damage!!!

What if one is worth only 100.00 but the other for whatever reason is worth 10,000.
The value of your coin will change your grading fee with most TPGs once you pass different values and you'll pay more insurance.
Like PCGS your grading fee could be as low as $14 or up to $500 depending on your coin. (not including SH/Handling)

You can squeeze them in by underestimating coin value but then you have a risk because they might only insure it based on your est value. I have squeezed them in by estimating price slightly low (like estimating a $400 coin at $300 to use economy) since you aren't really sure of the grade since it hasn't been graded yet. They will complain if you are way off in your estimate.

Check with each company or call before sending if you have high price coins.
        Each company is different.

For example with PCGS the limits of your coin value and grading cost change per service tier:
(This is from my last form so it may even be increased, so check current prices)

Ultra rarities no limit on coin value grading fee is $500 per coin
Rarities $200K limit on coin value grading fee is $200 per coin
Show Express $200K limit on coin value grading fee $200 per coin
Show $100K limit on coin value grading fee $100 per coin
Walk through $100K limit on coin value grading fee $100 per coin
Express $20K limit on coin value grading fee $50 per coin
Regular $3K limit on coin value grading fee $30 per coin
Economy $300 limit on coin value grading fee $18 per coin
Modern $300 limit on coin value grading fee $14 per coin
Mint Errors $20K limit on coin value grading fee $50 per coin

I moved this thread to the General discussion simply because there is no one correct answer......but to answer the original, first question.....no, they will not charge you more for grading if you send in two of the same coins and one grades MS-64 and the other grades MS-66....value, rarity, and insurance are different matters and should be addressed in separate questions.
