1864 Indian Head Penny found in a roll from the bank.

Yesterday I drove an elderly neighbor to her bank because her vehicle was being repaired. I had never been in this bank before. I was standing off to the side when I notice a teller stacking up hand-rolled pennies. I politely asked her if I could purchase a few rolls. She smiled and said that I would be doing her a favor if I took some of them off her hands. She asked how many did I want and I said I would take all of them. She found a box and gave me 98 rolls, all cashed in by customers.
When I got them home, I immediately noticed two very old wrappers. I opened the first one and found 50 wheat pennies! The second roll had 47 wheat pennies, one memorial and two Indian head pennies. The first was an 1859 in poor shape, worn and bent. The second was this one, a very nice 1864. I have found Indian head pennies in the past while searching rolls, but never one as nice as this. I guess it pays to help out a neighbor.

This is a great sign when you see this kind of phone number.

A couple years back we found a total of 47 Indian cents after a lot of searching but never one as old as a 1864. Our oldest was a 1879. Nice find!

Very nice score. That is even nicer than the one in my collection. I always end up in the right place, the right time but always get in the wrong line. enjoy!

They are not cuds but they may be rolled over rim. Not sure on that.

Looked through about 40 rolls so far. The appear to be from several different customers but the older wrappers are giving up lots of wheaties and four more Indian Heads so far. I'll let you know what the final tally is.
