I'm not seeing die-2 or die-9.
On the one you think is die-2, try getting some closer pics of the motto and liberty but I think that would have showed in the existing pics if it was there, it's pretty extreme.
On the one you think is die-9, that die has the extra little line sort of separated and above the 2s tail and I don't see that. There are also several others that show on the 2s tail.

Best to post one coin per thread to avoid confusion.....but....so far all I'm seeing is MDComment

Sorry but I'm confused on this post.
Are you saying this set of images is what you think is "fs-005"?
(This is a good example of why one coin should be posted per thread. There are two sets of images and three coins mentioned.)
Two things:
1)I could be confused, but this doesn't look like an fs number. Do you mean: FS#:1972-105
2)What I see in these images all appears to be MMD- Machine/Mechanical Doubling, especially on the top of the letters of GOD.
Others more knowledgeable than I will chime in and add some info.

Sorry but confused again without some written guidance by you. You started to include an FS# but the image information got inserted.
(Also, before you hit the "Post Quick Reply" button, .............. Preview the post first in the "Go Advanced" tab to make sure it posts the way you intended. Read it carefully before "submitting" it.
Thanks.

The reason I say to match the doubling before the markers is that the doubling is bigger so it's easier to get you in the ball park of what it could be and markers are small and coins often have similar markers.
Also, looking closer at the doubling will answer the question of if it is a doubled die or MD. Look close at the direction of it and how it adds to the normal or if it is "into" or "on" or sort of a smeared step/shelf of the normal. Those are signs of MD.
Most of the doubling I see on these is flat and takes away so that steers you to MD, some doubled dies can look sort of flat but the 72s don't look flat and especially on the bigger ones like die 1-2-3-8 the second image is about as strong as the first so there is a lot of added meat to the motto, not flat.
Hard to explain but when you see some of them in hand it will be very clear. For me, buying some cheap examples on ebay to see in hand really helped.Comment

1972 doubled dies can be a challenge for some folks. In addition, Master Die Doubling is prevalent on over half of ALL 1972 P/D/S cents. Not only that, to make sure you get totally confused, there are also many examples with mechanical doubling. There is so much good information out there on just about all of these doubled dies. This is probably one of the most photographed years. Coppercoins, Variety Vista, Wexler files, and many other older books and DVDs have good photos of the many varieties for 1972. Take your time and study carefully. Note the direction and strength of the doubling. That helps narrow down the search. Hopefully, we can verify a genuine variety for you real soon.Bob Piazza
