Thought it would be fun to share my latest variety submission results with this audience.
The 1930 S/S RPM 1 I Cheery Picked in a NGC MS 65 Slab off Heritage. Not sure if PCGS was going for a MS 65 as I was not impressed when I got it - but it upgrades my MS 64 example.
The 1934 D DDO has been sitting on the back porch for about 6 months.Thats what I do with coins that have been messed with from cleaning or recoloring. I usually end up with a natural brown patina once left to the effects of mother nature. I could have sworn it was an MS coin, but PCGS did not think so. Off it goes to Great Collections.
1934 D RPM 4 was RAW off Ebay. It did look flat, so no surprise. Ironically I had cherry picked a PCGS MS 66 example in an unattributed holder the same day on another Heritage Auction listing. So I already have a great example. If this one had graded MS 64-65 it would have been nice cash cow. Oh well - off to Great Collections.
The 1956 Proof was in a PR 65 ANACS holder so it upgraded. That one is committed to a friend of mine.
and finally - the 1962 Proof. So I buy it in a 67 CAM Anacs holder for $125. It has a planchet flaw on the OBV. Not a defect, more like a stain ?? or a swirling loop sort of thingy ??. Anyway. I figured a genuine example would fill the hole as I sure as heck knew PCGS would not designate it a CAM (as the rev was weakly cameo) let alone grade it with the swirling very faint mark. Guess I was wrong on all accounts - its now a top pop coin.
