    Single squeeze doubled dies

I can't believe what I was just told on another site's forum by one of it's moderators. He argues the definition has been changed on modern single squeeze die production. He said what we are calling doubling now is actually md! True doubling isn't possible. I told him that doubling wasn't possible in the old method either, long as the humanoids set things up correctly. Same as the modern process, operator's error. Waiting for a response.

Is he trying to say it's "Mechanical/Slide" Die Doubling since the die isn't struck twice in the modern process?
MD occurs on the planchet not the die.

That's exactly what he said. I explained to him that md happens on the strike of the coin, doubling happens on the die.

I told him to ask Wiles and Wexler what they think it is.

I agree Jon, I sure hope so... bad information can come from anywhere. Good thing enamel is teaching them a lesson or two

Well Viva, my blood pressure is fine. I haven't heard back from him since I posted my response. Maybe he's rethinking his response. That forum has a few members from here, but the regulars except for a few try to bully people.

Glad you are okay enamel! That is pretty bizarre, there's enough bad info out there but to mess up the true meaning of what makes our hobby what it is... is pretty rough! I'm sure some people will thank you later!

Good job to try explaining it Enamel!

Tell them to look that 2006 earlobe that's fully separated, nothing like MD.
