    Ken, I've never had one in hand but it looks like the master die may have been that way.

        Excellent find Ken... I think the circ wear has enhanced the slide effect that or the coin got over heated

          Interestingly, for 1952 the numbers ramp up! It seems they were not super careful when they added the last two digits to the date each year.
