    Coin Roll Hunting Pt. XI

Not much to say about this one except that it had a lot of new pennies mixed in with the circulated stuff. Many of the keepers were upgrades to my collection. No pictures to share as I forgot to snap a few.

I'm confused by the zinc error number. Are you saying you're finding that many errors?

Just possible error dates. As far as I know he has not searched them yet.

That would be nice to know.

Does cu error date and non cu error date mean dates with possible varieties?

That is sort of how I search, the dates with no good varieties get a quick look and off to the spend pile, ones with possibilities get looked at closer.

Sometimes people call varieties errors because they aren't as intended but for discussion we should use terms like "die varieties" or "strike errors" so people know what we are saying. The reason is, all coins from all dates can have strike errors.

Maybe even show the dates that are counted as possible big varieties in a list, like for zinc memorials it might be something like 83, 84, 94, 95, 97, 98, 99, 00...

Good questions! I strictly use Variety Vista as my only reference. I consider errors as DDO, DDR, and RPM. So Cu and Non-Cu error dates include only the errors dates and are not searched yet. The only deviation really from this are the CAM and WAM varieties. The reason for the major jump in Non-Cu error dates was the addition of 2017 to the list. Now there is a 2018 added to the list so the numbers will skew again. I now have two boxes of coins to search.

Thank because I enjoy seeing your stats.

I know you broke this down for us once but what which are included in the Cu error sort?
(The "error sort" seems so much higher than the "date sort")

The only deviation really from this are the CAM and WAM varieties. I also consider 1982 a Cu year for simplicity sake. I don’t weigh the 82’s unless I am examining them. Also, I don’t include wheat cents in the Error Sort pile. So basically that would be 1959 thru 1982 as Cu error dates.

If you are only using Variety Vista you will be missing out on some nice varieties or will think you found a new on when you come across one not listed on VV.
As an example VV has one for 2017P but Wexler has 5 (I think).
