    1996-P WIDE "AM"

Hello all, I am writing about this because this coin to me was never minted by the philly mint. I been searching rolls for 18yrs. and looked a zillion's.....LOL!!!....I mean a whole bunch of 1996 and never found one at all to say "Hey I finally found one"...

I wonder if anyone else in here has ever located this die to get a RARE chance of holding one in your hands?. I would not ever say anything if a coin does not to appear to have been minted, when I read about this and Crawford saying he found it made me go on a wild hunt for this die.

I wonder if Mr. Crawford is still around the hobby of coins?. If he is I really hope he is doing good because it has been a very longtime that he has been in here or other coin forums.

Please let me know what you think about this 1996-P WIDE "AM".....

    Thank you all,
    Patrick G.

Patrick, Mr. Crawford passed in 2016. I wish I could help but have not seen anything on this site in the short time I have been here about having found one though.

Edit: Sorry I helped produce the next reply.....

In short, the coin never existed. It was a hoax. Crawford got called out on it.

What's that mean? Your sorry for the next reply. That's what happened. Their were heated debates on here between Billly and others a few years ago when he got called out. There's a lot more as well. He didn't return some peoples coins, lots of shady stuff. He still has some of my coins. If you don't know what your talking about best to say nothing.

As I've said before, let the dead rest in peace.

I thought this topic was discussed recently in another thread related to another finding by Mr. Crawford... I did a quick look and could not find the thread but if memory serves me correct it was said that no one had seen it other than the person that discovered it leading to speculation it never existed... Like Ed said "Still look just in case" and like Enamel stated "Let the dead rest in peace"... I know I have never seen a WAM on a 96 but then there are a lot of LCs I have never seen

I think the other coin was the 88 doubled ear that was bought at a low price and sold for a fortune.

Anyone interested can read the details on the 96 WAM in the comments section of the following thread. Bill O'Rourke(Foundinrolls) gives the factual details of what happened.
