2009 special mint set

Hi- the mint is going to issue a commerative mint set/proof set for 2009.
I know they are holding 50,000 proof dollars. I wonder what is will have also included. A five dollar bill? the four proof cooper cents or maybe a special 2009 cent that will be the same as a 1909-s vdb? That would make that coin an instant rarity.

They sell 1000 coin quarter bags why not cents.

nightowl, Frankly, I agree! I think it reeks of "henhouse"way, the way the mint is doing business. I don 't mind Deaklers buying in volume, but at the same time, therwe should be a limit fir them, to allow the "collectors a chance to enjoy some of their coinage, without having to pay thru the nose!

If there is anything coming out in a qty of 50,000 from the Mint - I too worry about its unavailability to the common collector. This backdoor dealing with dealers is becoming a problem...

The solutions easy, if you can't get any from the mint because they're selling whole sale to dealers, just don't buy from the dealers at there blooted prices, let em sit on them and eat it. Maybe then the mint will get the message.

there still no date for this set to be released...will it ever hit the streets..what will it cost when it does....and your right the deales have first order and then one to a household...richard

I believe the set is 50,000 Linocln silver dollar commemoratives and 4 bronze Lincoln cents....all proof.

This old US Mint page from January 30th, 2009 discusses the Lincoln Silver Dollar and mentions the special proof set (LN6):

Like it has been stated, the set will be limited to 50,000 sets of 5 coins – a silver dollar and the four pennies. But it was supposed to come out in the "spring?" No new information of any kind seems to be available anywhere. I do know that the Lincoln silver dollars sold out ages ago and if this special set does indeed come out, the dollars included would seemingly represent the last of those coins for direct purchase. If dealers get first dibs, there may not be much left for us…

I agree Brian, but There will still be 50,000 suckers out there who will pay anything. Personally, I don't give a hoot about this set.

I will certainly be trying, but I fear it may be next to impossible. A friend of mine, my son and I were all trying to get the LP2 when they were first released for nearly 5 hours before we all gave up.
