5000 coins later, but only 12 ----2009 pennies

So, I went through most of them last night, and then some. I divided everything by decades, then each decade, by years. But then I noticed that for 2009 I only had 12 pennies. So then I had to look it up. 3 of each, and one of the Washington DC. I'll have to look at them closer, later. (the rest of the 2 of them not in great condition). Funny, that there are so few from that year.
But among others, found a 1921, 1927, 1953-S, 1970-S, 1971-S, 1973-S, 1974-S. Lots of 1956's, 1944, 1945, and 1957's.

What's nice about the wheats--- most of them, they are exemplary on the reverse. The leafs are not faded at all. Not worn down. Some of them are doubled.

I will. I ordered a macro lens for my new camera, so should be able to take pictures of a few 'hopefuls' this weekend. Lately, found a 1955P (not the famous famous one, but I think there is some doubling), a 1955-D, 1982 sm.date zinc (same thing there as well, on the reverse). 1960-D (I think the date is doubled, or maybe tripled). And some others.

People did a lot of roll hoarding of the formative years cents.
Most things that are hoarded like that have a bleak future because the supply will be huge.

Thanks, GrumpyEd. Yah, I've read about the phenomenon of people hoarding copper pennies.
The only thing I can see with that ----those pennies could be held in bags, or barrels; they may never ever resurface, unless those people have the time to go through them, eventually, and to take the time as well, to know what they are looking for.

Yes, but these were zinc with only a few % of copper plating. They got hoarded because of hype that since the mintage was split over the types that each is lower than most surrounding years. The thing they ignored was it's still a huge amount of coins and way more than older dates that are common and tons were hoarded.

Similar to state quarters, the mintages are split up but people went crazy hoarding rolls of them. Most dealers buy most of the unc rolls at face, no premium except a few of them.
