    1998D D/D/D or D/D?

Ran across this nickel in my change today. I think its at least a D/D but it also seems like where its broken on the bottom, a piece seems to stick out farther west so I was wondering if it could be a D/D/D? What are ya'lls thoughts, is it one of those?

The did not punch the mintmark on that so it can not be an RPM.

Sometimes MD shows only on mintmarks because they are punched deep with steep edges but won't show on other nearby areas.

It wouldn't be like a double strike, would it?

That's a different thing, the whole coin gets struck again, it can be rotated or even flip over in between and doubling would probably show on everything.

MD likes to show on the MMs, they are pretty deep with sharp edges and often get MD even if it shows noplace else, other times it shows on the MM and other areas.

I know what you mean... I like to go back thru the Error Ref info from time to time... At times it is hard to believe just how much can go wrong with the apparently simple act of striking a coin!!!
