Guess the PCGS grade 1917-D and 1926-S

I want to do these two now, I made a deal for them but they are still in my possession.
I had the 1926-S worked on, the first pictures are mine before the work, the second are trueviews after. The color is closer to my images than theirs.

I'm guessing the 17D is in the EF+ category due to the wear I see on the rev wheat stalk lines. The obv looks AU. It's a very nice coin in any event. The 26S looks solid MS to me, but that's where I get into trouble - MS what? I've over guessed/under guessed so many times it's not funny....After 15 years, I am getting better, I hope.

Kevin, this is why i am doing this guess the grade. Technically, I have been collecting for 40 years and 6 months ago, i couldn't tell a 62 from a 65. I have spent about 1000 hours in those last 6 months studying trying to get it.
My wife on the other hand has been involved for 3 years max and has spent about 500 hours on it and I go to her for advice,. seriously. She is an artist, i was an engineering major. My conclusion is that grading is much more of an art than a science.

1917-d .. AU58BN (Even though I think it is MS64BN. I bet the graders took the die wear on this one for circulation.)

1926-s .. .MS65BN (The obv rim @2-3:00 has some issues but the fields and devices look real good. The spots above the date probably are a concern)

PCGS thought the 1917D was a 64BN which is what we thought. The wheat stocks are die wear, not circulation.

PCGS gave the 1926-s a MS63BN I thought it was a AU/62 before the work when this pic. was taken. I saw it in the holder, after the work and think it could get 64 with enough tries.

1917d- Good to hear this grade. Glad they didn't get confused by the older die.

            1926s- Decent grade.
In hind sight, I'm not sure what I saw on the rim @ 2-3:00????
Even though there is lite flatness to the top of the jaw and the cheek which simulates wear, I'm not seeing it on the high points of the hair. Which is why I was thinking MS and only a few dings or nicks was why I was going with the 65.

The guy who bought the 26-s thought it was undergraded too. I don't see why it didn't get a 64. It looked much better after it was worked.

I would say those are nice coins... 3 days late and a few pennies short of a full roll
