Calling all graders, can I get an MS66?

Hi: Just pulled this out of my pile from CRH. This is the nicest 1995 I've found by far. The line in front of Lincoln's mouth looks like a plating and it does have a die crack on the back from the rim down to column #8 and it branches off a bit from the s in pluribus, don't know how much that will effect the grade, but other than that looks good to me. Oh, and there's a couple of very minor breaks on the stairs.
    Looking forward to your opinions.

I'm not sure what you mean by "a plating" in front of his mouth, I am assuming you mean bubble. If it were a hit or small scratch it would probably keep it at 65. I would assume a bubble would do the same. As far as the die crack goes, it should not effect the grade, but that doesn't mean that they will recognize it as such in the 15 seconds they will take to look at it. It's a nice coin, I guess it depends on how that thing in front of his mouth looks in hand as to if it gets a 66.
I'm not that experienced with Memorials, even less with Zincons so take what I say lightly.

Thanks for the response. Yes I did mean plating error or bubble. Thanks for your comment.

Nice looking coin Lou!! This has been one of my tougher ones to find in this condition roll searching. Put it away in a tube and keep looking! I'll find my link on the "Ed System" and post it here. Grumpy Ed got me keeping my finds in tubes a few months back. I think I'm up to 7 of the 95P now. Here is one of them. Thanks Jon. Why keep them in a tube? I just put my keepers in a 2X2, is that bad? After I posted this I found 5 more almost as good. They were in my pile, must have come from the same roll. Send you one if you like, no charge, no strings. Appreciate your feedback. I'm more interested in finding them than keeping more than one.

From what I've been told by the much more knowledgeable folks here, 2x2's are the worst way to keep a coin if you do not want it to change from it's original state. Air and light are a coins worst enemies and the flips give it the least amount of protection. Don't get me wrong, I have bunches of coins in 2x2's but if you want to try to keep it as close to the condition you have found it in, tubes are the most cost effective and best way short of having it slabbed. I have seen even slabbed coins change though.

Tubes will keep the cents better than a flip, the only risk is if you make marks dropping them in. I try to sort of stack them and put the tube over the stack. A tight full plastic tube tends to keep cents nice for very long.

Flips are ok but over time the cents tend to tone. If there is a rip or hole in the plastic (like a staple rip) they tend to get messed up fast. Proofs tend to get particles and tone. I'd think flips or anything without PVC is ok for short term but the longer time the more risk. It's hit and miss, I've seen cents turn fast in flips and others stay nice. Something about a fresh cent from a roll can be very reactive at first, so if they get past a few years out of the OBW they get more stable. A full red old wheat is more likely to stay stable than the average zincoln you pull from a fresh roll. I think it has to do with the patina that forms, if it gets a little clear patina and is still red it's less reactive. This is also the reason why some collectors prefer a coin that's been in a slab a while over a freshly slabbed coin because they think it will be more stable.

I think that 95 is maybe a 65 but even if it was a 66 there is absolutely no reason to get it graded, it has spots above liberty and on the reverse and the color looks a bit muted already and the plating wasn't great either.
A graded one in 66RD is worth a lot less than the grading/shipping/handling fee, it's probably even below the break even point for a dealer that gets a bulk discount and even selling it for under $10 it's not in big demand at all.

Thanks for all the info Ed. Oddly enough I have a couple of dozen tubes that I put some coins in when I was a kid, others, like the wheat pennies I just rolled up in paper tubes. Wasn't planning on sending the coin in, just practicing to see how well I could grade. Thanks again.
