    2018D "Doubled Disigner Initials?"

Surely these initials in pic 1 are class 6 doubled lol 2x fatter than the regular initials on all the rest of my coins, in pic 2? Although I won't hold my breath but it would be nice to find a new listing

I'm not sure on this Derrel. The coin looks like the die had some wear on it and sometimes that will make these look fatter. Let's see what others say.

Denver for some reason has most of their Designers initials looking extra thick. Unless there is notching it probably won't make the cut.

I would say that anything out of Denver is usually thicker as Cliff states. Die wear is also an issue. I don't think this coin is a doubled die.

A little bit of advice concerning the initials on the Shield cents. A doubled die does show some extra thickness but it is seldom seen without some other diagnostic such as distortion or twisting of the letters, separation lines or notching. Of course there could be exceptions, but off the top of my head, I can not recall any.

Another thing to remember - If you think it is a DD rotate it - If it is still looking like a DD rotate thru 360 degrees - if it still looks like a DD then it is worth looking at further - if the DD disappears at any point then most likely it is not a DD... On your first pic the JFM looks really promising but on the 2nd pic the JFM looks normal... Lighting always gives us hope!!!

The second pic is a normal one, I put it up for comparison. I prolly wasnt very clear in my wording, That is one of my faults in thinking one thing and writing another lol but that is why I put the second one in the mix.
