    Just some interesting finds

I am in the process of filling out the Whitman books, and I ran across a few pennies that were interesting while coin roll hunting. I know they probably aren't worth more than $0.01, but they were interesting enough to pull aside.

2000-P(as far as I can tell): Grease Filled Die
    1983-P: Filled B (die chip?)
    1970-S: Decent machine doubling.

As I am new, feel free to let me know if I am not calling the errors correctly, or if I am missing something. Was a chance for me to try out some new equipment (camera), and show off a few finds.SingleShot0008.jpgSingleShot0011.jpgSingleShot0004.jpgSingleShot0010.jpg

    Thanks,
    Mike

Welcome to the LCF Mike! Very nice photos with your new camera! Let the fun begin!

I'm not the greatest when it comes to giving correct answers, but I like to give it a shot!

Your 2000P is a nice greaser, if you couldn't see the last zero very well... Lincoln's lips are a good indicator it's a 2000 as that was part of the design that year and we have joked around about them looking like "chicken lips" Did you check to see if it is a WAM (Wide AM)?

The 1983P is a hit to the B of Liberty, you can see the zinc core is exposed. Unfortunately if it used to be a filled B you would be unable to tell now.

Your 1970S does have machine doubling... very good call! It's also a large date. The 1970S small date is the rare one!

You are doing a great job! Have fun with your new equipment and thanks for letting us know when you have questions!

You beat me to it Viv! I was trying to find reference to the abscess on his B via die chips, It looks like it could have been a raised area that got chipped out.
      And welcome Mike!

I think you got them all right.
The 83 looks like it was filled then the plating got scraped.

It's a bit easier to see from an angle. It appears that there is a built up area above the B that has been scraped down a bit. Also, the 2000 is a close AMSingleShot0012.jpg

Nice finds Mike. Could you tell me what camera you're using. I'm thinking of upgrading.
              Thanks: Lou

It's a Plugable Digital Microscope. On Amazon for like 30 bucks. Pretty easy to use, but harder to get closeups.

Sounds like what I've got. Mine was $35.00 from ebay. Your pics are a lot better than mine.

                    Nice images.
I thought that second image showed a plating blister that collapsed. It seems to be inverted instead of scraped. Could be my eyes though.
